Hey there and welcome to my blog! Fibroblast Plasma is a very unique treatment. It's one of my favorites to perform on my clients because the results are so astounding! Everyone asks so many questions about this treatment so here is what you need to know. Aftercare information is in a separate blog post!
What is Fibroblast Plasma?
Fibroblast Plasma is ahhhhh-mazing! It is in a class of its own because of its uniqueness and flat-out amazing results! If you are in the middle age stages of your life, fibroblast plasma could be your best friend as far as reversing the effects of aging goes. Think “facelift without plastic surgery”! That is exactly how many people describe it!
Now the professional definition is this: Fibroblast Plasma is a skin rejuvenation treatment that is used to firm skin, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and improve the appearance of acne scars.
If you like science, you will love this part! This is where it gets different than anything else on the antiaging market. During the treatment, a pen-like device converts electrical energy into an ionized gas. When this gas hits the skin, it creates heat energy that induces controlled microtrauma. Basically, this action triggers the body’s natural healing response and kickstarts the fibroblast cells in the dermis, stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin.
This treatment is frequently used to treat fine lines, stretch marks, creases and lines the upper lip to treat "smoker's lines," and to tighten laxity and reduce crow's feet around the lines. We can treat any area of the body for skin tightening. So, think about your belly or thighs- if you have stretch marks, like the majority of women do, we can treat them! Doesn’t that sound magical!
What are the pros of fibroblast plasma?
Results can be impressive and gratifying
Compared to traditional plastic surgery, it's a relatively inexpensive, quick procedure
Unlike more temporary cosmetic treatments like Botox or dermal fillers, results from fibroblast plasma treatments typically last about three years.
We can target very small areas of the skin, such lip lines, frown lines, crow's feet, and mild laxity along the jawline.
Thanks to the topical anesthetic, most patients report very little discomfort
Now, to manage expectations up front, this treatment is not a surgical procedure so please don’t expect equivalent results if you have an extreme case of excess skin or super saggy skin. People with a LOT of excess skin around the eyes, jowls, or cheeks will likely have better results seeking the help of a facial plastic surgeon. If you don’t know if you are a good candidate for fibroblast plasma, just ask me!
What is a fibroblast plasma treatment like?
Everyone wants to know what it feels like. I wish I could describe the feeling in a nutshell but the real answer is that it depends on each person and their tolerance to face and body treatments such as fibroblast plasma. Depending on the size of the treatment area, the actual procedure time can take anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes.
Steps:
Cleanse the face or the area being treated.
Medical-grade numbing agent is applied to minimize discomfort. It takes about 30 minutes to be completely numb on the surface.
Once you’re numb, I will use the tip of my machine to send the heat energy into your skin, leaving behind tiny pint-point size scabs in a grid-like pattern.
My final step is to apply a cooling gel or ointment to help soothe the skin.
How long does recovery take?
This again comes down to each person’s individual ability to heal but in general, your face will show redness, irritation, and a grid pattern of brown, dot-like wounds during the healing process, for up to two weeks. Plan your social calendar accordingly! During this time, you’ll likely experience redness, swelling, scabbing, and flaking. This is natural and is part of the process. Do not pick the scabs off! By day three, most of the swelling will have subsided and the plasma-induced dots will begin to crust and scab.
Pro Tips:
Avoid exercise, heat, steam, and any activity that makes you sweat for at least 48 hours after treatment; this can intensify inflammation.
To help reduce swelling, apply covered ice packs (10 minutes on, 10 minutes off) and sleep with your head elevated.
How long does plasma fibroblast last?
Results from fibroblast plasma treatments typically last about three years, but this varies depending on the patient. Once new collagen forms, it has been shown to stick around for upwards of 15 years but since the aging process never stops, existing collagen is constantly being broken down. It is not unrealistic for a person to need a few treatments depending on the desired effects they are looking to receive. Again, I will be able to tell you what your personal situation looks like and if you may need more than one treatment.
I am happy to talk you through the process if you believe fibroblast plasma is the solution to your antiaging goals! Look for my post-treatment care information in a separate blog.
